The Château’s origins date back to the XVth century; its relics are indeed still visible. A tower and a moat historically mark the entrance to the main courtyard. The central part dates back to the end of the XVIIth century, whereas the main part of the Chateau was built at the end of the XVIIIth century. In the moat, the lifting gear used to bring up water from the well with a bucket chain is still present. The legend goes that the donkey which activated the well machinery would stop working as soon as the water overflowed from the top of the tower. |

From the end of the XIXth century, the Chateau du Breuil belonged to the Marquess of Méloize Frenay, and then to Count de la Salle until 1968. This stately home was transformed into a hotel of character in 1989. The present owners acquired it in 2003. Since then, the refurbishment of the ornamental elements and dormer windows of the façades, the chapel restoration and construction of the swimming pool have been completed. |
